September 24, 2017

Bible Text: Romans 8:31-39 |

Series:

This is the last sermon in our "Confident in Christ" series. The end of Romans 8 is one of the most uplifiting passages in Scripture. It contains deep, personal, precious promises for the believer and the reminder that the Gospel itself has the depth and power to hold you regardless of the circumstances around you.

In this series, we are hoping to help instill confidence in the God of the Bible by walking through Romans chapters 5-8, seeing how Paul teaches us the great reason Jesus gives us for having great confidence in God. Your confidence in God is going to swell, because your expectations of God are going to be rightly set and your experience of God is going to match up to those expectations.

Enslaved

Bible Text: Romans 6:15-23 |

Series:

In Romans 6, Paul deals with the criticism that if God's grace in Jesus Christ is as big as he says it is, it might give Christian's license to sin. This is the fourth sermon in our Confident in Christ series. We take a look at Paul's response to this objection as we ask the questions "What do we do with the problem of ongoing indwelling sin in the life of the Christian?" and "What are our spiritual slave masters?".

Grace Abounds

In Romans 5, Paul speaks of the Christian's hope of glory. Many times we feel that our failings and sin are just too much too bear, often leaving us feeling very insecure in our relationship with God and our chances of every seeing His promised glory. Realistic Expectations

July 30, 2017

Bible Text: Romans 5:1-11 |

Series:

Where you set your expectations in life makes a massive difference to how you experience the world in general, and this is especially true when it comes to God. If you have wrong expectations of God you will have a very bewildering and potentially discouraging experience of what it means to be a Christian.

When your false expectations of God aren't met it's easy to come to the conclusion that Christianity doesn't work. The truth, however, is that most times, our loss of confidence is in a God who actually really wasn't the God who reveals himself in the Bible in the first place.

In this sermon's  text, we are introduced to a lot of the themes that will follow in the weeks to come. Our question in this talk is "How do we have realistic expectations of God?"
