More Than Conquerors

September 24, 2017

Bible Text: Romans 8:31-39 |

Series:

This is the last sermon in our "Confident in Christ" series. The end of Romans 8 is one of the most uplifiting passages in Scripture. It contains deep, personal, precious promises for the believer and the reminder that the Gospel itself has the depth and power to hold you regardless of the circumstances around you.

In this series, we are hoping to help instill confidence in the God of the Bible by walking through Romans chapters 5-8, seeing how Paul teaches us the great reason Jesus gives us for having great confidence in God. Your confidence in God is going to swell, because your expectations of God are going to be rightly set and your experience of God is going to match up to those expectations.

Grace Abounds

August 6, 2017

Bible Text: Romans 5:12-21 |

Series:

In Romans 5, Paul speaks of the Christian's hope of glory. Many times we feel that our failings and sin are just too much too bear, often leaving us feeling very insecure in our relationship with God and our chances of every seeing His promised glory. In this passage, Paul shows us that even though our problem of sin is actually greater than we often realise, the redemptive grace he offers us in Jesus Christ is greater still - and the only real basis for our confidence as Christians.

Realistic Expectations

July 30, 2017

Bible Text: Romans 5:1-11 |

Series:

Where you set your expectations in life makes a massive difference to how you experience the world in general, and this is especially true when it comes to God. If you have wrong expectations of God you will have a very bewildering and potentially discouraging experience of what it means to be a Christian.

When your false expectations of God aren't met it's easy to come to the conclusion that Christianity doesn't work. The truth, however, is that most times, our loss of confidence is in a God who actually really wasn't the God who reveals himself in the Bible in the first place.

In this sermon's  text, we are introduced to a lot of the themes that will follow in the weeks to come. Our question in this talk is "How do we have realistic expectations of God?"

Bible Text: Daniel 4:1-37 |

This is the fourth sermon in our six-part sermon series entitled Inside the Lion's Den. We've been looking at what it means to live faithfully as a Christian in a world that doesn't seem to follow God's agenda.

In this talk we are called to remember that God alone is God in the moments of life when the world threatens to overwhelm us, and in our moments of weakness when the world threatens to seduce us.

Revealer & Ruler

January 22, 2017

Bible Text: Daniel 2:1-49 |

Series:

In this talk we tackle Daniel chapter 2. This is the second installment of our six-week study in the book of Daniel.

Part of Daniel's value for us is the insight it gives for life in a world that doesn't seem to follow God's agenda. Chapter 1 began to address the question of how you follow God in adverse circumstances. Chapter 2 goes further back and addresses the question behind that - is it even worth following God at all?

This week we consider Daniel's presentation of God as revealer and ruler as we engage with that question in the light of the text.

Bible Text: Romans 12:9-21 |

In this series we're trying to answer one question: What is a complete Christian? We ask this question because we want to ensure we're heading in the right direction in our spirituality as we pursue a balanced and mature understanding and expression of our faith as Christians.

In this sermon we study Romans 12:9-21 for a second time as as we think about what our posture or response towards those who are outside our faith community should be.
