The Good Shepherd

Sermon Series - Psalms

Bible Text: Psalm 23:1-6 |

Psalm 23 has been a comfort to many people through the ages. As we listen to the Psalm again, there are three things we need to listen for through the familiarity of the words if we are to experience the true power and comfort of its words.

As we read the Psalm we need to see:
- the true nature and identity of the Shepherd,
- the true nature of his provision, and
- the true nature of our need.

The Son of David

Ancient Grace - sermon series

March 4, 2018

Bible Text: Psalm 2 |

This sermon is the third in our series Ancient Grace.

Where does the story of Jesus start in the Bible? How you answer that question is going to shape the way you read and understand most of your Bible, particularly the Old Testament. The contention of this sermon series, Ancient Grace, is that the whole Bible, even the Old Testament is actually all about Jesus - about God's grace to us in sending us a Saviour to save us from our sin.

One of the prevailing ideas in our culture is that our own autonomy is the secret to our happiness. In Psalm 2 we gain insight into the nature of our world and the nature of our God, as we hear it expose the illusion of absolute autonomy and find hope in the solution it presents for our true happiness.
